Guests
began arriving thick and fast greeted by Alex and Esther on the door, while I
was welcoming guest within the party, canapés in hand. Delicious canapés
provided by Cheltenham based café and catering company, Pepper Crescent.
After
a quick change Sam was sparkling, not only because of her bedazzling KellyThorne skirt. Accompanying Sam, models circulated within the party also wearing
Kelly Thorne’s stunning collection. Among the guests was a fabulous group of
ladies wearing hats and fascinators made by themselves with the help of
Milliners involved with Cheltenham Fashion week.
The
evening commenced with Sam launching the event with a speech discussing how
Cheltenham Fashion Week was born. She
also spoke about the core objectives for Cheltenham Fashion Week.
- CFW wants to give opportunities to young people to get involved with the fashion industry by showcasing their designs and attending career talks.
- CFW wants to showcase up and coming designers from Gloucestershire and further afield.
- CFW wants to celebrate fashion and give Gloucestershire people the chace to acquaint with up and coming labels and designers.
- CFW wants to embrace diversity and different body shapes ages and sizes.
Sam’s
introduction was closely followed by speeches from co-founder Emma Whitelaw of Chapel
Spa and educational director for Cheltenham Fashion Week, Sarah Clarke. Local
label Kelly Thorne’s designer, Catherine Thorne also introduced the pieces from
her label and the thinking behind it.
Overall
the evening was a roaring success; the party had a fabulous atmosphere and each
guest left with a smile. It was a great opportunity to put faces to names as
besides Sam and a few others, this was the first opportunity we had had to meet
the full Cheltenham Fashion Week team.
