The first day interning at Silver Ball PR came around quickly, and on Tuesday we all found ourselves nervously standing in our new office for the next three months being acquainted with each other. The nerves soon passed when we all quickly bonded over wardrobe choices and accessories - fashion may not cure diseases, but it definitely cures awkward situations!
Our bags were packed, ready to travel to Exeter for the night and stay at the recently refurbished Magdalen Chapter Hotel to work on plans for CFW, whilst getting to know each other. Ellie clearly thought we were going for the week, as she had packed more than all three of us put together! We departed soon after a meeting with Cheltenham Fashion Week's Managing Director, Sam Bawden, after which we were all buzzing with amazing ideas for the lead-up to CFW! We can't give anything away too earlier, but we promise good things! It is clear from spending an hour with Sam how enthusiastic and passionate about opening up opportunities for young people she is, which makes working on the project even more enjoyable!
When we first arrived at the Magdalen Chapter, we were treated like royalty by the amazing staff who were the most attentive and friendly people I've come across in a long time. It's a nice change from student life! The experience only got better as we were escorted to our own double bedrooms with amazing beds - to say that it was a struggle to get out of bed in the morning would be a very big understatement. I would stay again just for that bed alone.
The modern décor of the hotel created such a relaxing atmosphere, and the spacious lounge area turned out to be the perfect area to get all of our creative juices flowing and have a really good CFW brainstorming session the following day. At dinner, in addition to an amazing three-course meal, we were also treated to even more excellent service, which included a little dance from our waiter as he served us our desert - there's a first for everything!
When we sat down and started working on our goals for CFW, our objectives for the project quickly became clear: to create opportunities for young people in fashion, to showcase up-and-coming designers, and, of course, to celebrate fashion! These three things are what CFW is all about, and we can't wait to make them happen!
